Nords Odyssey is a game about a Viking's ship journey where you must manage three resources: Supplies, Warriors and Morale.

Each day an event will trigger and it's up to you to decide how to solve it.

Warriors eat one supply per day, if they go hungry, morale will go down. If morale is down there's a chance of warriors to desert your ranks. Try to keep the resources balanced and make it until the end of the journey!

really a very good game, my problem is that my friends and I can not english so well and therefore do not have the full game fun. Would be cool if you could also make a German version (is not a must) greetings.

Kinda late on posting this here (like an entire week) but really anjoyed the game! Hope you enjoy the video!

Also, just noticed there's also an apk version right before posting. I'm mainly at work and it gets pretty boring there, this might be a good way to pass the time!

Ok wtf? What kind of a person do u have to be to say that you're bored at work? What kind of a job do you do then?Like, jeez

Nice game.

One odd thing I noticed was that even when I had 0 warriors, the events where a warrior wanted to leave their warrior life in pursuit of something else would pop up. This obviously makes no sense as I had no warrior.

Also, I noticed that warriors a bit hard to get by and die too easily. But also, they are the only absolutely non-essential as long as you have some supplies to spare. Maybe have more use for them?

And, when I tried to lose the game, the game over message states that I completed 0% of the journey, which might be a bug.

Yup there's no control whatsover on the events. You could think your resources as the ones you can spare.

There are a couple events that can only be solved with warriors. Not too many, so they might not have popped up in your run and since warriors are hard to find and mantain I didn't want to have too many events that could end your journey.

Nice catch on the 0% definitely a bug, will get it fixed for the next update
Thanks for the feedback!

You could keep a track of the resources, and make sure incompatible/non-sensible events don't occur, like the one I pointed out where I was asked to let go of a warrior to pursue some other path in life, but I didn't have any warrior whatsoever, thus making no sense.

Another nice small Indie game.

I few suggestiosn to improving games like this: (Hopefully I don't sound too snobby)

  1. Less Relience on random events would be nice. Some games rely on minigames between events to earn resources, some rely on being able to convert resources between events, simply picking up floating boxes feels a bit lacking to me.
  2. If you're going for a full pixel aesthetic game, match the sizes of the pixels. This might be a personal jib, but I think this is what divides amatur retro-styled games and good ones. Adding Pixel art versions of the event icons could work too.
  3. Right now the resources seem to be made so  that Warriors are the most rarest, and supplies the common. A balance between these resources could make the resource balancing part of the game more engaging.

Not at all, feedback is always welcome!

I agree on relying less on random events,  but couldn't find a way to organize events so they aren't that random while still keeping every journey unique within the jam timeframe. I thought about organizing events by good, neutral and bad and give you those in a certain way so it's satisfying but still challenging. But you know, more stuff to balance and little time to do it ^^

Thank you for playing!

awesome game! Really enjoyed playing it!

If you have the time, I would suggest either stopping or slowing down the barrels when a story option pops up.

I know it doesn't make logical sense, but sometimes the moving barrels distract me and I interrupt my reading of the options cards.

Still awesome submission!

I'm glad you enjoyed it!

The barrels do slow down a bit and stop spawning when you're reading but I might have to slow them even more if they are so distracting :P

Thank you for your feedback! :)
